Hi,
I have Window 2000 server running AD and Windows 2003 std as a file server.
Mixed with Novell 4.11 server. When client try to access maped network drive
from Win 2003 server share drive it take about 30second to show up all files
and folders. Then if client try to open any office file (Just small file few
KB) it take about 5 min to open that file. On client side I have Win2k pro
and XP pro loaded with Novell client for Windows. And this problem I have on
all computers on my network. I try to use MS Client for Netware it helps on
first place that is when client access Windows 2003 server shares all files
and folders showups quicly but to open a file it is still slow. I checked
File and Print shearing propeties on Win 2003 server is set to Maximum data
throughput for file sharing. I look at the CPU nothing worng on load. I have
Copmaq Proliant DL380 Xeon 2 GB RAM, 2 RAID controller card, 1 for Mirrord OS
and 1 for RAID 5 for DATA.
Can some help me out?
Thx

Mitesh

Have you checked DNS to be sure that it's (1) Running correctly on the AD
domain controller, and (2) That all clients are using the AD DNS to resolve
names?

Totally agreed with Richard suggestions.

Are all the machines are able to browse each other normally or browsing
each other is also slow.

Their can be lots of reasons for this kind of problem:

1. Machine cant connect to DNS (please do NSLLOKUP and post result)
2. Microsoft-ds, netbios-ssn should not be blocked in domain
enviornmnet.
3. Virus issue. (Update all antivirus softwares installed)
4. Spyware/Grayware issue ( Update all Spyware/Graywaresoftware
installed)
5. ARP Flood,ARP Poisoning. (Antivirus,Antispyware will work)

Thanks

I have exactly the same problem with my 2003 file servers. So far I only
found a workaround. If I log onto the server with an account with
administrative rights and then leave the server locked instead of logged of
the problem does not reoccur. But only as long as I do not log off.

Regards
Markus
