Slow Network Access

When I access files in Windows explorer while connected to the network the
process is extremely slow. It can take up to a minute to get a file and or
open up a directory. I noticed the problem corrected itself when I unplugged
myself from the network and that other users weren't having the same
problems. This leads me to believe that the solution might be to check
mappings to other computer.

If I want to delete mappings to solve the problem how would I go about it
and is this the right solution?

I have Operating System 2000 Professional
Network Novell with 9 other users through a hub

Any help would be appreciated.
