slow §net view"

Hi together,

had two trusted nt4-domains, migrated them to win2000 AD where the first
nt4 - domain became the top level ads - domain, the 2nd nt4-domain was
migrated to a subdomain of the first one.

Everything was fine; till I switched tio native mode.
The problem now is :
net view
wíthout parameters lists running systems in the top domain. It does but the
response to that command needs about 20 seconds.
When I use
net view /domain:subdomain.domain.com
it is the same thing, however, the time until response is about 30 seconds.

there is no error, but the response time before switching the domains to
native mode was very short.

Anyone any idea for the reason ?
Thanks
Guenther

net view uses NetBIOS to display computers in the network You probably get
the same result if you browse the network trough My Network Places ? I would
say to see how is your WINS server doing and that all the clients are
pointing to it. Can you describe your network infrastructure more in detail
?

Hi, thanks for you answer.
the problem is the same in the network neighbourhood.
I checked meanwhile that it depends on two virtual network adapters tht are
installed on the machine from vmware software. When I disable these adapters
the speed in browsing is o.k.
I tried to setpup the same wins and dns servers to these adapters as on the
real lan adapter but it did not help.
I think it´s the best to disable the virtual adapters as far as they are not
needed.

Check your adapter binding order and make sure, that internal adapter is
first on adapter binding order list.
