Slow loading

I use Windows XP, Sp2 and Symantic AV. Almost all my applications pop up within seconds when I click them except
MSoft Word and Roxio CD Project Selector. The latter in particular can take as much as 5 minutes to load. If I reboot, all applications load instantly but this is just as time consuming. Any suggestions why the delays happen?
