Slow loading and slow mouse

Phil

I have Win98se and finding when I am on IE my mouse slows right down and
pages are slow in loading yet I have a normally fast connection. I have
virus checked, run Adware and Spybot and gone
through the repair mode on IE but nothing making a difference. It is only on
IE and wondered if you guys had further ideas on what I could try.

Hi Phil :-)

Try the following and see if it helps.

Clear TIF Files
The temporary files only holds so many files, so perhaps you might try
clearing the Temporary Internet Files and History.

Tools | Internet Options | At the Temporary Internet Files click on Settings
| View Files tab | Edit | Select All \ click Delete key, then click OK.
Click Clear History

Thanks for reply. Tried as you suggest but still same problem.

It can be caused by malware on your system. As you have run AdAware and
SpyBot, try the following and see if it helps.

This problem can be caused when Internet Explorer uses a predefined style
sheet and tries to force all pages to load according to this style sheet.

Try the following and see if it helps.
:
Go here:
tools-->internet options-->general tab-->accessibility-->user style
sheet-->format documents using my style sheet and uncheck the box. that's
all.

Update the drivers for your mouse. Go to the mfg. website and download the
latest drivers for your mouse. See if that helps the mouse run better.

Nothing did the trick so I used my Go Back program to a time when all was
working and thank goodness all as it should be. However I would like to know
what caused the problem?

I spoke too soon as the problem is back but narrowed down to something to do
with the Norton Anti Virus or Firewall programs. Trying to figure out why as
it only on IE6 when surfing the net.

Ok ....let's take this one at a time and see where we get. Check to see if
you have Auto Protect on in your Norton AV. If so uncheck/disable it and see
if it helps. Also, what Firewall do you have?

Well just spent couple of hours uninstalling the Norton 2002 Anti Virus and
Firewall software. It was up to date with all payments made for latest
definitions. Only just realised I had bought the 2003 version of each but
never installed so have just done that. AND so far all seems now to be OK.

However hope I am not speaking too soon again.

You're very welcome. Good work! I have heard that some folks have a problem
with the new 2004 NAV, but, it's a hard call to make with all. Glad to hear
that you got your system back up and running properly again (fingers crossed
