Slow Launch on Startup

I'm still having a problem with IE 6 taking several
minutes to load a page the first time I launch it after
startup. I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE6 and have
also disabled third party extensions, as suggested in a
previous reply, but the problem continues. Also, when I
uninstalled IE 6, I deleted the IE icon from "All
Programs" in the Start menu, believing that a new icon
would be placed during reinstall, which did not happen.
Any suggestions as to how to fix the slow startup and
missing icon issues? Thanks. [I'm running Windows XP
Home.]

I would try to unistall ie once again. Clean the
registry. Run msconfig and turn off startup items that
are un needed so that they are not still loading and you
browser has a lower priority then those. next re-install
ie6 and hopefully you will be good to go. What type of
internet service do you have?

I had a problem similar to this once alos but it was
running dsl and a router. the machine would site idkle
all night and i would get on it to surf and it would take
30 sec before the first page would load. it was becasue i
was dialing out and the router was doing it so it was not
obvious becasue the lack of dial screen. just wanted to
run that by you

Thanks, Brad. I'm running DSl (SBC Yahoo) through a
router. Are there any other steps that I should take?
Thanks again.
