Slow/Jerky Remote Connection

Greetings,

We are experiencing difficulty with one machine when
connecting remotely from a home pc or travel laptop. The
machine when connected remotely has a very slow and jerky
connection and things are very slow. There are 7 other
machines exactly the same that when connected remotely
perform fine. What would be causing this certain machine
to have a slow remote connection? We are running Windows
XP and the machine is a Dell GX260.
