Slow Internet Explorer

I have noticed that for quite some time, after I start IE,
and then go ahead & type a URL address, it hangs for
almost a minute, after which the page loads. Following
that, the same browser window is fast enough.

I couldnt see any FAQs related to this. Any tips would be
appreciated !

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
 
Cleaned up using Adaware with the latest updates; still no
luck. Any idea what IE does after the point you type in
the URL & hit the enter key to the point that it actually
loads the page. This is taking almost 1 min
