It just started recently since I installed a new motherboard, SATA harddrive and modem card. I had to reinstall windows also. It is not the internet server because a friend of mine has att.net also and he is running fine. Like I said, I usually get about 53.2kbps when I go online and it seems fine at first until I, like you said, click on new web pages then the refresh rates starts dropping. It is slow when I am downloading info or also when I send or receive emails? Thanks again for the help!

The icon that you see in your "system tray" next to your
clock does not represent your dial up connection(modem).
It's for a NIC connection that's used for LAN
connections. Your modem is connected but is EXTREMELY way
too slow. Has it been like this from the beginning or has
it just started slowing down recently? Is downloading the
only thing that's performing slow? Does it take forever
to get to the next webpage?

My dial up speed is usually 53.2kbps but yet it takes
about 20 to 30 minutes to download a 320k file? I have
an icon on my start line on the bottom right corner of my
display that shows 2 monitors with a red X through them?
When I put my mouse arrow ontop of it I get a message
that reads "local area connection network cable unplugged
intel pro/1000 ct desktop conn"?1gig of 3200ddr running in the dual mode? Any ideas?
Thanks!
