I
Injam
Hello,
I have just built a new computer and my Internet connection is slow. I can
sometimes get on at 44 kbps, but it's usually 28.8 or 33.2. I did use my old
modem which usually connected at 49.2. The computer that the Lucent Win
modem came out of ran Win2K. My new computer runs XP Pro. I had a similar
problem with another computer of mine also running XP. On that computer I
was running two fire walls. The XP one and another that I purchased. When I
turned off the XP firewall it fixed the problem. I thought this was the
problem here, but I'm only running one Norton firewall. I have updated the
driver for my modem and still 28.8 connection speed. The phone line is good.
It is the same one that I was getting 49.2 just the day before my new
computer came online. I am even using the same wall connection, same ISP,
same phone number to connect to my ISP. I have tried others also.
Can anyone think of something else?
Sincerely,
Injam
