Have Comcast as my ISP, and have no speed problem during the day online, but at night,it slows to almost a crawl.Comcast guy has been here, but unfortunately, its during the day,so didn't experience the slowdown.Comcast sent new software to the modem, but no change. He said he has also pinged the modem at night from his home some how, but it was normal.Comcast provides a file to d\l,and that has proven to be terribly slow at night. As I mentioned above, everything is normal during the day. Thanks Papat

Im afraid its one of those things your going to have to deal with. For example i have Tiscali Broadband and worst times to d/l etc are around 5pm til about 10pm on most weekdays, its as slow as anything.

You best chances to have quick internet speeds are in the mornings, friday nights and most of the weekend.

If its like in the UK, you'll have a contention ratio of say 50:1... this means that there are up to 50 connections allocated to the full amount of bandwidth 1 user can receive.

If there are 20,000 users at that exchange, there may be the full bandwidth for 400 at any time. Of course, this is usually enough as not everyone will be online at the same time using 100% of the bandwidth. However, when more people are online it does slow things down.
