Hey,

Does anybody know what to do with this?
The initialisation step when logging on on WinXP is going
extremely slow, you even have to wait for it before you
can do something else...
To anticipate a little bit:
Yes, I did use the latest XP driver from the HP website
Yes, I did install the drivers while anti-virus was off
Yes, the bios supports both EPP and ECP
Yes, the cabel is still working because it's possible to
print and in the end the initialisation works
But I really can't figure out why it takes sooooo long!
Please help me.

Thanks,
Peter

If it was installed on the PC before, or you used it before upgrading to XP
and kept the printer connected during the upgrade, see if a COMPLETE
uninstall and reinstall helps...

Other than that, ensure that EPP is set for LPT in the BIOS and that the
cable is good.... see if replacing it helps.

If possibly, connect via USB... (sorry, don't know if it's possible, I do
not know every make and model of printer)
