My Internet Explorer from one night to the next day began loading the first
page of a window very slowly via my cable access. When IE is opened, it will
take at least 3 minutes to load the home page or any other page. Once that
first page is loaded, access to any other site is normal. But if I open
another window, the same delay occurs. I am at lost. I even upgraded to IE7
with no change in operation. Still a delay with the initial page. HELP!
Thanks!

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Hello,

Try running IE7 without add-ons.

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools >
Internet Explorer 7 (No Add-ons) to start without any add-ons. Try using the
browser and see if problems arise.

If the problem does not occur again, start IE7, go to Tools > Manage Add-ons
and disable all the add-ons and enable them one by one till the problem
appears and you get the culprit.
