slow in xp

I'm running 2000 and I've had it in a five pu peer-to-peer network with all
machines running 98.

My customer got an xp machine so I stored the backend on it and now the
access time is slow.

It has a wireless router on it and two additional wireless machines acess
it.

I have now moved the backend back to 98 machine and it sped back up.

I'd like to run the backend on the xp.

What's going on? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Is the 98 machine on a wireless connection? What standard
wireless are you using? The 802.11b standard is, I
believe, quite a bit slower than the 802.11g standard
equipment.

Just a thought.

It's a bug with Access and W2K/XP. The workaround is to create a form bound
to a table on the BE that is always open when your app is running. Create a
dummy table with one field and one record, then a form with one control
bound to that field. On start of the app, load the form with the option
acHidden.
