Slow in loading web page

All of a sudden my windows xp pro gets real slow
downloading some of the web pages. The headings would
show but the content loads very slow. What could be the

could be anything

- your network connection is slow (caused by modem, cable modem, router
if you have one, etc.)
- your isp is slow
- the internet is conjested on that particular path
- the web site is busy

isn't necessarily anything to do with XP.

Have you changed anything recently?
if on broadband, have you restarted the cable/asdl modem?
have you determined a pattern for which web sites are slow or fast?

To that I would add: scan with current antivirus using updated
definitions and remove spyware with tools such as Spybot S&D and/or
Ad-aware. The symptoms you are describing could be caused by adware or
a trojan phoning home.
