Gigabyte GA-7N400Pro (nForce 2) matched with

WD1200JB
WB800JB
IBM Deskstar 40's (RAID 0)

On my previous Mainboard EPOX 8KHA+ I was getting about 30K; with the
WD1200JB (SiSoftware Sandra 2002 Professional) with the new Mainboard I'm
only getting 20K (ATA100 setting in BIOS and XP set).

I've looked for updated nForce drivers but the situation seems a bit
confusing 2.41 was out and now the latest seems to be 2.03.

Any similar experiences.

Sigh!
What does everybody say about Sisoft Sandra?

Clearly, there are still some misguided users who actually *believe*
that Sandra is a valid HD benchmark. Double-sigh.

Now if the OP had before and after data from HDtach showing that
HD performance really decreased due to the MB change, then maybe
somebody could offer helpful comments; but, based merely on Sandra's
reported performance, there is no evidence that HD performance
even changed.

Don't use the Nvidia IDE drivers under XP, only use the MS ones. From what
I've read on various forums the Nvidia IDE drivers not only give lower
performance but CPU utlilisation also increases.

I've tried the MS and the new Nvidia driver 2.41 - still no better than
~20k.

I cant see how it could be Sisoft Sandra when I'm using the MS driver. BTW
this is on the IDE0 controller setup.

It works with the RAID setup and seems to give a realisitc value.

Any other results with Sandra, especially WDXXXJB's.

Because Sandra is not a harddrive benchmark.
Which part of that did you not understand?
when I'm using the MS driver.

It has nothing to do with drivers.

'Seems' is the operative word here.

It actually contains a filesystem benchmark; which I recall might have
something to do with how fast your HDD is performing.

And it does have a lot to with the drivers; having tried MS, 2.03, 2.41,
2.42 with a difference of 20% in the 'feel' and realive ranking.

Seems is the operative word as all I want is a comparable baseline not exact
throughput figures.

And BTW who is everybody?
