slow file selection when attaching files

I have outlook 2002. When I attach a file to a email the file selection box
is very slow. If I click on attach, the dialog box comes up immediately but
if I want to change directories it takes atleast 30 seconds before I can
switch to a different directory, I just get the hourglass.
Any ideas?

Hello, I have the exact same problem on my IBM Thinkpad. OfficeXP with SP3
and WinXP Pro SP2. Computer is running at 1.9GHz with 1GB Ram. As far as i
can tell, if you simply click the big Desktop Button on the right and
navigate from there it is nice and fast, only if you click the top dropdown
menu is it slow.. Could someone please help us out....

Thanks in advance,

Renato

If you have mapped drives that show as disconnected, unmap them.

I tried this and it did not resolve the problem. Were you able to resolve -
if so, can you please advise?

You can try the following;
-unmap disconnected drives
-make sure no broken shortcuts exists in the directory listed first
-clear your History in Internet Options
