Hi everyone,

I have two PCs on a Windows 2000 network which i have set
up for a client. He is browsing a directory from one
computer which is viewing files on the other. There are
about 200 files in the directory and it takes a long time
(about 5 seconds) to view the directory contents (this is
instant locally). I am using TCP/IP over a 100Mbps
network cross over cable between a 450Mhz PC and a 2.0Ghz
PC.

He is complaining to me that this is too slow and he's
worked on faster networks. Surely Windows isn't sending
megabytes of information, so am I doing something wrong?
Any ideas on how to speed this up / cache directory
contents loacally perhaps?

I reckon its probably all set up right, and just
inefficiencies in the way windows browses files, but he is
adiment it should be faster.

Any help would be apprechiated,

Cheers,

Nick
