Hi
We are experiencing slow access to files stored on a Windows 2000 (sp4)
fileshare.
We are connecting remotely with a Cisco VPN client over dialup. All other
applications work as expected such as ftp, Outlook, outlook attachments. If
we double click a file on a shared folder of the server it takes 2-3 minutes
to open a 25k file.
I have done some troubleshooting and found out the following:
Double clicking a file (eg excel spreadsheet) transmits/receives 500 packets
(140k worth of data)
Copying the same file to the desktop transmits/recieves 70 packets (30k of
data)
So why the huge difference? How do we make opening a file more efficient?
Thanks
