SLow Explorer load times

My computer has worked fine for a long long time. Just recently we got a Cable modem, and within an hour of getting it, Internet Explorer began acting up. Clicking the icon to open th program would indeed open it, but it would take 1-2 minutes to do so (the rest of the computer would keep doing what it was doing).

I soon discovered that this applied to all forms of Explorer, including Windows Explorer, and opening new windows copies, like when opening the Control Panel. Once Windoes Explorer is open, it works as normal, at normal speeds, but it does take 1-2 minutes to open. IE doesn't hardly work at all, since even when it is open, it still takes long times to load pages, if it does at all.

I'm using Mozilla right now, and it's ok, but I'd really like to get IE back up and running. Any suggestions? (BTW, I have Norton Virus scan, updated, no virii, and Adware, updated, which cleared off a bunch of stuff but detects nothing anymore.)
 
Well, it's not that I need a new browser, it's just that I'd like my windows explorer to not take two minutes to load each time. It's annoying.
 
Hi. Had the same problem with both explorer and IE.
I think something got messed up directly or indirectly by virus attacks. I
had to reinstall XP Pro, after doing that everything is as good as it used
to be.

windows explorer to not take two minutes to load each time. It's annoying.
 
I too have the same problem. Not just with IE. any windows file system, my computer, control panel or IE. i dont use IE but avant to block pop ups and i dont have a clue why it takes so long for any folder to open. ive defragged, virus checked, ad aware, latest updates and cleared cache but to no avail. Any suggestions appart from re-installing XP. My computer runs fine appart from this.
 
I to have the same problem but also when using internet explorer every page is slow to load. when use other browser its fine. but folder to load is ssssssoooooo slow. please help .seems to b serious problem.
