I have 2x75GB Raptors in a RAID 0 stripe 2 array and a single 7.2K 250GB on
its own channel. I have just benchmarked both with SANDRA because I'm not
happy with the performance and it confirmed my suspicions. They're both
benching at half speed! The 10Ks have a throughput of 67MB/s and the 7.2K at
30.

How do I set them up so they're running at full speed? It rather defeats the
object of spending nearly £200 per 10K drive! The 10Ks are on a Promise
controller which appears to be built into the board. Someone tell me what to
tweak and I'll tweak it.

SANDRA was run after a reboot with all non-essential processes killed.

I'm not happy!

Try checking with DiskSpeed32. Sandra is sometimes misleading.

They are running at full speed, what speed were you expecting? Those
figures sound about right.

So a 9ms seek time is correct for a 10K drive?! Funny that WD advertise half
that and a 144MB/s transfer rate. Maybe I should have them for false
advertising?

You must read the specs carefully. Seek time can be full stroke seek or 1/3 stroke, or even less if they want to give you better numbers. 144 MB/sis probably the disk controller to bus speed and not read speed.
