I have a server setup containing dual Win2000 servers
mirrored using the DFS connected to by 25 WinXP
workstations.
When large blocks of information are copied by a user into
the shared directoy structure on one server users logged
onto the other server can't see the data for up to a day.
I noticed that if you right click on a drive you can call
up the DFS information which indicates which server you
are logged onto. It has a button which says "Set Active"
which I assume allows you to switch to the other server
for those files. When pressed I get a dialog that
says "DFS Shell Extension" "The Parameter is Incorrect"
I can find no information on how DFS works, how quickly I
should expect it to mirror data or how to operate it at a
user level on either the Win2000 help or the WinXP help.
How can I stop users moaning at me about not being able to
see files?
