Is it true that, or has anyone else found; that their cpu
performs slowely when Norton Anti Virus is enabled? As it
does on my brand new desktop, which really is infuriating,
and can cause repeated four letter language while waiting
1-2 minutes for any program to open.

A CPU does not operate more slowly than its rated speed, although it can be
made to run faster if you know how.

I have been using NAV for more than 8 years and have never noticed an
appreciable difference in my system's performance.

Is it NAV, or maybe Symantec Systemworks? I have Systemworks, but I
had to disable SpeedDisk cause that's what would happen to me. I used
a LOT of 4 letter words describing Symantec when I discovered that
(and even more when I tried to get "support" from them).

What process is monopolising the cpu when this is happening? What
version of NAV do you have?

Cheers,
