Slow connection between MacOS 9 and Win2003 server

Hi, all
I work with a network with a win 2003 Server and 5 Mac that running Mac OS
9.2 and Mac OSX 10.3.9.
When I connect Mac to the server using OS X the network speed is high both
in TCP/IP (with SAMBA) than AppleTalk protocol.
If I boot Mac with OS 9 the network connection ( in this case I can use only
Appletalk protocol) is very slow. Someone can help me to resolve thi problem?

Hi Andrea!

Even with Mac OS 9, you should be connecting to your server via AFP
(Apple Filing Protocol) over IP and not AFP over Appletalk. Appletalk
will indeed be slower (as much as 25% the speed of IP from what I've
seen).

Test that you're connecting over IP by opening the Chooser and entering
the server's IP address rather than selecting it from the list. If this
fails, then something is wrong with your IP connectivity. Verify that
your Mac has IP connectivity (such as accessing the Internet). If this
is OK, then your server may have a problem with its File Services for
Macintosh. Your worst case scenario would be uninstalling and
reinstalling the Mac service.
