Hi,

I have just setup a Windows 2000 Server and have a few
problems. The server itself runs fine stand alone, it is
very fast, but I have 3 machines, 2 Win98se and 1 XP Pro.
When we log into the domain, it takes forever to access
any shared resources. When you try to open a drive a
flashlight appears for about 10 seconds then slowly the
files start to appear. All pc's have 10/100 fast ethernet
cards and we are all connected directly to a 4 port
Linksys router 100Mbps. Could anyone offer any help on
this.

Thank you,

Keith

How many nics in the server? What does a IPCONFIG /All from a workstation
give? All DNS-numbers should point to your DNS-server (IP of your server).

There is only one nic in the server and I am using the IP
of the server as the DNS server address on the
workstations but it is still the same thing. There is an
80gb IDE drive in the server broke into two partitions.
Browsing the C drive from across the network is fast but
browsing the D drive from across is very slow.
