I am running windows xp professional. using 500 MHZ amd
k6 processor, with 216 mb ram. My computer is running
very slow and I tried to install a printer and I was
told by HP that I need to reinstall xp. I dont know how
to do this. Do I need to uninstall it first. Or is
there an easier way?

Why did they tell you to reinstall...?
Is your printer USB or what..?
What have you tried ..?
Does your computer detect the printer..?
Is the printer supported by xp..? Do you have xp drivers..?

First, you should clarify slow response whether is from
your system or from printer installation.
If your system is slow, please check the task manager for
which services are running to consume CPU or Mem resource.
Most likely, slow response and running is caused by the
system.

honey, a 500 mhz w/256 ram will barely get out of it's own way. No offense
intended, but that's old technology and anytime you install a major device
like an HP printer, you'll slow it down to nothing. In other words, don't
even bother to add more ram. Are you also running Norton in the background?

Since you are using HP, i think there is a way to reinstall XP fast. But everything will be lose and it just returns XP to it's original state. i think you have an error of something about the Windows installer does not work right? Its under All Programs>HP Tools> Hp system recovery or something like this
