slow computer

I've got a new computer. It has Windows XP home edition. It works VERY slow
in all programs!
The hardware is a Amd Atlon 1700 120Mb RAM.
I'm missing windows 98!
Can anybody help?

Windows XP needs at least 256MB of RAM to perform acceptably, and you'll be
happier with 512MB.
