We have a 30 client network with two servers on it. We have found that
for some time browsing to our one server is very quick, browsing
through the other is a bit slower. We're using a VPN now, and the
problem has become a lot worse. Not really that it got worse, btu the
slowness is increased exponentialy for folks that are VPNing in. If we
browse server02, entering \\server02\sharename in the address bar and
clicking go or enter it comes up in a matter of 2 or three seconds. If
we browse to a folder under that it opens in a few seconds. If we don
the same on \\server01\sharename it takes a good 30 seconds. If we
brpwse down a folder, it takes another solid 30 seconds. If we see
that what w're looking for isn't in that folder and hit the 'UP'
button it takes another 30 seconds to go back to the folder we were
just in.
DNS is running on this system and working fine, I'm really stumped and
need some advice on what to play with to look for improvement. Again,
all other systems browse to all other systems, though it's hard to
tell if the server in question has any problems when browsing out to
otehr systems.
Where should I start looking here???
Thanks all.
