slow boot

Recently my computer started booting very slow. I now take over 2-1/2 minutes before I hear the open tones and before I am able to use the computer. I have done a clean install and disk format and it booted normally until I applied all the updates. Now it is back to the 2+ minute boot up sequence. I have removed the network card and remoted all network connections but it still takes 2+ minutes. Any thoughts?

Try starting over but only install the critical updates.

Rich, Thanks for the input. After posting I did a search and found lots of info on slow boots. I have Nortons and when I disabled the auto protect feature I boot just fine. Now if I can only figure how to solve this issue..

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Norton.
