Most bios' have a fast boot setting. Windows also has a /fastdetect string
you can use in the boot.ini file. Boot time will vary due to a lot of
different factors, largely on how many drivers and what types of devices
have to be configured for the system to use. If you're loading a lot of
hardware attached to the system it could slow things down. Hard drive rpm
speed can slow it down. Lack of free disk space, difficulties initializing
systems, IRQ conflicts, small amounts of RAM, a very large registry hive,
.................. There are more. Some machines just don't have the
performance necessary to boot fast. Look through these suggestions and see
if there's any of them that will help. Take a look through a good
performace tuning book at the library or your local bookstore.

| I have a okay speed CPU but when it comes to my W2KAS it'd
| take 5 min. to get to my logon screen. Anything I can do
| to shorten the boot process? Thanks.
