slow boot up

Had virus problems, now all clear. However since then my
puter is soooo sloooow to boot up.Have reinstalled XP due
to crash from virus. Defragged, cleaned disks, removed
all cookies, and offline downloaded program files. Also,
ran puter check on disk drive in properties, and removed
adware. I know I have plenty of memory so any clue as to
y my system has slowed down so much and how to correct
this?
