Hi,

I don't know if anyone of you have ever came across this
problem, but it is taking close to 2 minutes for my PC to
boot with Windows XP pro. I'm getting to the desktop
pretty quickly but then it looks like nothing is
happening, then a couple of minutes later the rest of it
load and the booting completes. I've done some check like
the CPU speed, memory problem, I've disconnected and even
disabled my network card, all of this does not solve the
problem. Is there any way to track what's happening
during the booting process to find out where the bottlenek
is? Thanks for your help and precious advice.

Are you getting your IP address via DHCP? That can be slow sometimes.

I have this same issue. I'm no Windows guru, but I don;t
think anything else starts with windows. If my wireless
card is inactive, no peripherals, etc., it's the same.

During the hang, where the desktop is showing but nothing
is functional, the hard-disk light flashes regularly,
with gaps of up to 15 seconds where it does not. After a
few minutes, the screen goes black for a second and a
half, then comes back on. This seems to be the end of
the start up.

If I try to start an app during this initial start up
time, it begins to open then hangs with an empty window
(only tried with outlook and photoshop elements thinking
it was started already).

Thanks. I look forward to your input and hope my two
cents might help.

Hank
