odd problem - I have windows xp pro on 10 workstations and each
workstation has the same problem of when logging into the domain
(windows server 2003) it blows past a fist screen then sits at
"applying personal settings" for about 3-4 min.
I have ran into this problem on other networks and resolved the issue
by configureing the DNS on the server better and promoting the IP of
the server as the first dns entry on the workstation. This i have
done.
on the workstation the Server's ip is the first dns entry avaliable.
If i reduce the DNS entrys down to ONLY the server the problem still
exists and i can use the server mapped netowrk drives after login and
i can get to the internet though the server because i setup the server
to forward unknown DNS through to the internet IPS dns servers as per
article 300202 of the ms knowledge base. but yet it is still slow.
any ideas?
