Slow and noisy boot up

System taking a long time to boot with lot's of HD activity. Did a Bootlog
and was surprised to see massive size and repeated attempts to load long
gone as well as current drivers. For example - Loaded driver Ntfs.sys - is
loaded 7 times. I tried an in place upgrade but it only made the Bootlog and
process longer. Is there any way to solve this and keep existing programs
without a full reinstall? ( Massive undertaking )

Thanks,

Bill

What type of "noisy"? Is it possible that your hard drive might be about to
go?

Only reply by newsgroup. If I see an email I didn't ask for, it will be

Not at all. It and it's plug in replacement are just starting to work a
little longer on startup. Defrags lessen noise. Noise is not the major
problem!

Hm...you're on the newest service pack?
How much RAM do you have?
How large is your pagefile?

SP4, 524 Meg Ram, default page file 511-711

Please the question is - Is there anything I can do to stop the redundant
loads and no loads without a full reinstall ieget it to boot with just the
devices present and and not 7 or more loads and no loads. The no loads take
a little longer I'm sure your aware.

I'm not sure what you can try, except for a few defrags but they may not
help

May I interject something?
Your initial pagefile.sys is supposed to be no less than RAM+32megs
