Hi, please help me !! I have XP-SP2. Internet Explorer will not load
Hotmail. It will load my.yahoo.com but it will take 10 minutes to do so. I
cannot access Google or a majority of other sites. I have checked all
settings, etc etc. Have read all SP-SP2 troubleshooting
documentation.......I am ready to pull out my hair !!! This is such a
____inconvenience.....I hate the fact that I have spent so much time on
this. Does anyone out there have any idea what the source of this problem
is, and if so, PLEASE share your answer..because I know I am not the only
one !!!!

Will wait anxiously for a solution........
Thank you so much,
Eileen

Thank you, but my system is clean....I run ad-aware frequently and have a
reliable anti-virus running. I know I am not the only one experiencing
this, as I have seen the same posts at numerous other groups. But no one,
it seems, can come up with a solution to this frustrating problem. By the
way, I do not have any problems at other computers with Hotmail or anything
else to do with the internet.
Thanks,
Eileen

Ad-aware won't catch everything.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Malware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/cwshredder.zip
**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm.
CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

See this link for information about malware:

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.

HI Eileen,

this has not helped. I have tried all of the suggestions below without
success. The only way I can get the images to appear is to change the
encoding vlaue ( in view->Encoding) to Western European (Windows) but
this changes back to Auto every time I visit a web page!!!!

TIA John

You must have some other program interfering.
I have NEVER found a site where I could not see pictures with Western (ISO).

Hi Frank,

you are correct, using Windows(ISO) also works but how do I get IE to
keep that as the defaul encoding as it always changes back to Auto ?

TIA John
