My windows XP laptop is running really slow these days. It was not so slow when I bought it a couple of months ago. It takes ages to load Word documents and start MS Office applications, or even thumbnails of photos 
. The harddrive seems to be working longer than usual and the light is on for long periods.
When I watch divx movies playback is not smooth and there is quite a bit of stuttering. I ran virus and spyware scans with AOL anti-virus and spybot SD, and I got no warnings, so that part is okay I think.
The notebook is a Lenovo dual core processor, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB hard drive system.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks for any and all help.
