Slipstreaming

I've read a couple papers on sliptreaming XP Pro basic and SP2. They
mention using a Microsoft Corporation.img file to make the CD bootable. We
use Nero Express 6.6.1.4 and it provides a "standard" boot.img file for this
purpose and also allows you to use the boot.img from a floppy disk, but it
does not allow you to use an external .img file such as the one above. My
question is does it matter what boot.img file is used--can I use their
included standard??

If this should be posted on another forum, please let me know.

Use the following program:

AutoStreamer 1.0.33

Yes, but as I said, Nero 6.6+ doesn't provide a way to use an external img
file and I wondered if it would be okay to use the internal img file that
Nero contains. We've already done the slipstreaming itself.

Autostreamer will create an ISO image, Nero WILL be able to burn that to a
CD and the resulting CD is bootable.

Okay, I got Autostreamer, ran it and easily created streamed.iso. I burned
the CD with Nero 6.6 and when it booted all that came up was the filename,
streamed.iso, in an explorer window, the files/folders didn't display. It
didn't run. In Nero, I created it as a plain data cd, because if I checked
bootable then I would have had to select either it's internal .img file (a
DR-DOS 7.3) or the boot from a floppy. Any ideas?

So, instead of burning the ISO as ISO image, you've just created a data cd
with the .iso file and Nero's bootstrap.
This happens sometimes... esp. after a wild football night :)

In Nero find the menu that says burn image. This will burn the autostreamed
ISO file to disc.

An ISO is an image file which contains all the information and files to
create the CD you want.

What you did was burn the ISO onto the disc as though you were storing the
ISO.

Okay, we got it done. Our error was in starting Nero from the Nero
StartSmart, which doesn't provide the full menu options. Starting Nero
Express from Programs Nero/OEM does the trick and provides a Burn as image
option.

Thanks for the help.
