I just purchased one of the sony slim line dvd/cdr(w) drives.
Unfortunately, though, it was too slim.
are there any adapters/enclusures that can convert a slim line drive to one of the bigger notebook drives?
If this is OT for this group, please direct me to a place to which this topic should be posted.
TIA

Can you please explain what "too slim" means?
Is this an external drive or what?

It's an internal notebook drive.
Basically, I'm looking for some sort of mounting kit that will allow the drive to fit in the bay.
The drive is a Sony DW-Q58A.
The laptop previously held a Sony crx810E.

Since the laptop mountings are proprietary, an adapter from one laptop
drive fitting a different laptop bay would be a custom made item.

sorry for the pun, but you have a very slim chance in finding that....

I've seen adapters that will make slim line drives useable in a desktop.
I guess my only choice aside from sending the drive back would be to buy one of these adapters (and an enclosure) and use the drive as an externaldevice.
Thoughts?

In my humble opinion....send it back if you still can, and get one that
matches your laptop...
