I'd like to move a Sony VAIO P4 computer to a new generic ATX case. (The
case is crap and a pain to open...currently stuck and I need to rip it apart
to upgrade it). Does anyone know offhand if it will fit ok, or will it only
fit into a Sony case?

Odd thing to do, given they're ludicrously overpriced and the only
reason, I'd imagine, for anyone to buy one is for their cosmetic
appeal and perhaps some brand trust.

Would depend on which model you have; some such as the V and VW series
use odd custom cases which, I would imagine, would be nigh impossible
to transpose to another case. From what I recall of the more
conventional tower machine I've opened they had a fairly typical ATX
layout so could probably be moved into a new case.

I personably wouldn't bother. Most branded machines, including Sony,
have a decent second-hand price so my recommendation would be to
offload the Vaio in your local rag and buy/build a better replacement.

amen.

Good idea. It's not my computer..it's a friends, but I can just change the
motherboard if it doesn't fit into a standard case. That's cheap enough\
