Hi *,

I have a Sharp CE-150 plotter which had a battery leakage. I removed the
pack and left the battery contacts open. When I connect the device to
the (original) adaptor, the plotter basically works i.e., the barrel can
be positioned and rotated (COLOR n works), but the solenoid which should
press the pens onto the paper isn't working. As soon as I issue an
LPRINT or TEST, the PC-1500 returns Error 80.

My question: Is the solenoid defect, can't this plotter work without the
battery pack or is there a different problem with it?

I tried the following: Remove the adaptor and connect 4 AA cells to
where the pack goes. Instantly got Check 6 from the PC-1500:(.

Thanks a lot for your time!

Hi, I just replied to 'prop' your post up, hoping someone will com
along and throw some light on your problem

The solenoid couldn't be seized up with gunge by any chance..? As yo
probably know solonoid's consist of fine copper wire, any chance tha
the leakage got on to the terminals and corroded the wire around th
terminals...

Not much help as usual... but there's alway's that possibility

Hi Davy,
The solenoid couldn't be seized up with gunge by any chance..?

It's quite hidden where it is but it might be worth the try if
everything else fails.

The batteries are far away from it plus the leakage hast just started. I
don't think anything has been corroded.

Thanks for your idea anyway, I'll give it a try after making a new
battery pack. Somewhere else it was indeed mentioned that the plotter
doesn't work from the adaptor alone and dry batteries probably don't
deliver enough voltage at the current drawn from them.

If it works with just some new rechargables, I would feel quite silly
(but happy:).
