Slightly OT. Macrovision.

Several. I have an APEX AD-1100W that has been SW modified to illuminate
it from DVDs. I use my Sony Camcorder with passthru to illuminate from VCR.
To mention a few very common methods that cost nothing.

you can use a program called dvdidle in conjunction with
powerdvd and windvd to disable the macrovision in those
programs during dvd playback.
 
Sparkle sparkle little twink,
Please don't drive your can and drink,
Others try this every night,
None of them are very bright. ;)
