Slightly OT email question

Not directly XP I know, but collectively you're all usually so
mind-numbingly knowledgeable I thought I'd ask.
Is there a quick way to delete an attachment from a received or sent folder
message without deleting the message itself?

Don't know of a way to do this with OE or Outlook. You could use an email
program that separates attachments from messages as they're received.
Reading news or mail the message/file relationship is preserved and
accessible. But you can go through the attachment folder at any time and
remove any unwanted files.

Personally, I use 40tude's Dialog. It has this capability with mail and
news messages but there are other programs also capable of doing this.

Thanks for that Sharon,
I'll try that.
For years I've just forwarded as an inline, but always wondered if I had to.
Best regards

Double-click the message so it appears within its own window.
Right-click on the attachment shown in the list and select Remove. That
removes the attachment without deleting the message. That is useful
when deleting attachments on a few messages. If instead you want to
delete attachments on all your e-mails, you'll need a utility to do
that. Take a look at www.slipstik.com which probably lists one, or
more, such utilities for cleaning up your message store.

The above refers to Outlook (2002). You never mentioned your e-mail
client. You will have to use whatever procedure is provided within that
particular e-mail client.

Thanks Vanguard
Though your method has been tried before and doesn't work in OE6 or
previous.
I was hoping there was some universal command that would astoundingly also
apply to webmail folders
that I mysteriously just hadn't heard of before.
But obviously it's not gonna happen without 3rd party intervention or
tedious forwarding.
Thanks again for the suggestion
All the best
