Mike,
What happens if you create a brand new one slide show? Make it very simple
(just some text.) Run that. Save it, open it and run it again. Does it work?

I can open Powerpoint 2002 and run slides
individually
but the slideshow just locks up. any suggestions? I
have
tried to run installation disc and repair but no
change.
I'd start by lowering hardware acceleration.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll try other
things.
Thanks. Tried taking Acceleration back to none and
still
can't run slideshow
Ok, thanks for trying that.
I'd next try booting into Safe Mode and see if PPT will
run the slide show
then. It may look ugly, but it's a good test to see if
you're experiencing a
problem with video drivers. If the presentation runs in
Windows Safe Mode,
then try updating your video card drivers.
You can also start PPT itself in Safe Mode by holding
down the CTRL button
on your keyboard while opening PPT from your
Start/Programs menu or by
finding POWERPNT.EXE and holding down the CTRL button
while double-clicking
it. Does your slide show run then?
I'd also do some basic disk maintenance. Had a coworker
today whose PPT
files keep crashing in slide show mode. Looked at his
Temporary Internet
Files folder, and there's a gig of stuff in there. I
suspect it's causing
him problems, so his assignment for the afternoon was to
empty that folder.
You might want to check your Temporary Internet Files
folder and delete any
files in it.
Also search your hard drive for *.TMP file and delete
those. Then run a scan
disk and a defrag.
Oh, I should also ask if PPT is crashing on all files in
slide show mode, or
just on one specific file? Finally, what did you mean
when you said, "I
can...run slides individually"?

Thanks again. I have cleaned disc, defrag'd and run in
safe mode...no change. When I said I could run slides
individually I meant that I could open them, not run them
