Is it possible to vary the length of time between photos when using
windowsxp slideshow feature in the mydocuments / mypictures folder? How?

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

Thanks for your posting. If I understand correctly,
you want to change the interval for picture slide
show in Windows XP. To change the slideshow timing,
follow the steps below:

IMPORTANT: This article contains information about
modifying the registry. Before you modify the
registry, make sure to back it up and make sure that
you understand how to restore the registry if a
problem occurs. For information about how to back up,
restore, and edit the registry, refer to the
following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-U
S;256986

1. Close all windows.

2. Click Start>Run. Type REGEDIT and click OK.
Registry Editor opens.

3. In the left pane, browse to the following key.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentV
ersion\Explorer\ShellImageView]

NOTE: If there is not a ShellImageView sub key under
the Explorer key, please create one.

4. Select the ShellImageView key. In the right pane,
create a DWORD named Timeout.

5. Double click the Timeout value. Click Decimal. Set
the value to the number of millseconds between image
changes (1000 = 1 second, 5000 = 5 seconds)

6. Close Registry Editor.

7. Open the My Pictures folder and click "View as a
slide show". You can find that the timing has been
changed.

Please feel free to let me know if anything is
unclear.

Sincerely,
