SlideShow image size on presenter's PC

Just got a new Toshiba laptop -- 1366 x 768 resolution, and connected a
secondary 1280 x 1024 monitor to it. Slide Show mode works fine, except for
one thing: on the presenter's laptop, the image is so large that only three
lines of text appear in the notes window at the bottom of the screen, with a
vertical scroll bar to read the rest of the notes.
So, is there some way to reduce the size of the image so that ALL the notes
can be read without scrolling?

Hi John,

You may want to check the extended display resolution , 1366 x 768 seems
unusual for a laptop. Try setting up the maximum resolution for the laptop
screen to see if the distortion still happens. I am quite sure that may be
the problem.

Hi Vicente, that resolution is the new 16:9 aspect ratio, and it's also the
highest available resolution. I know PowerPoint 2003 came out long before
16:9 was available, and maybe PP 2007would resolve the problem. However, it
seems really odd (to me, that is) that one can adjust the size of the image,
and the notes area too, in Normal or in Notes Page mode. But as soon as I
switch to Slide Show mode, the image is "locked" in a large area, and the
notes at the bottom are limited to 3 lines. This seems to defeat the whole
purpose of a dual-monitor slide show. Why force the image to be so large that
the presenter can't read his notes?
Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and please holler if you have any more
suggestions.

FWIW, I came up with a workaround for the problem of not enough space to
display notes in "Slide Show" mode. Figured I'd mention it, just in case
anyone else encounters the same problem:

1. In Screen Resolution, select any resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio (1024
x 768, 800 x 600, or whatever).
2. In Graphics Options/Panel Fit/Notebook, select "Maintain Aspect Ratio."
On my 1366 x 768 screen, this reduces the desktop width to 1024 (or 800).
Open PP2003 and select the "Slide Show" option. Now there is more room at the
bottom of the laptop window to read the notes. External monitor or project is
not affected by any of this.
I still think the size of the laptop image and text area should be
user-adjustable, as it is in every other viewing mode. Maybe it is in a later
version, but I need to check this before I upgrade.
