Slides won't let me advance with the mouse click right away...

I am trying to work with a presentation from someone else and I am having
problems. There is a small, animation type thing that runs across the screen
for every slide. I can't advance to the next slide until this runs its
course. I am wondering if anyone possibly knows what this is, and if there
is a way to remove it from the presentation. It is quite annoying for two
reasons. It distracts the eye as it crosses the screen and I can't advance
the slide until it is finished. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Click "View", "Master", "Slide Master", select the object that is "running"
and delete it!

I would start by going to View > Master > Slide Master and see whether there is
some object there that is set to animate. It might be off the slide, so you
might need to zoom out so that you can see the area around the slide. Press the
tab key multiple times to select each object, one after the other. If you see
selectiong handles around som small object, zoom in on it to see what it is and
whether it is set to animate. Delete it if that's what you need to do.

If you don't find it on the Master, return to Normal view and use the same
technique to see whether it's something added to each slide.

Brian,

Can you select the animation type thing?

If not...try View menu > Master > Slide Master
Then can you select it?

If you can select it you can either delete it...
or change the "custom animation" settings by right clicking it
