Slides won't display in Notes Page view

I am using PowerPoint 2003 on a Windows XP machine.
I am working with several PowerPoint presentations and some of them won't
display the slides when I use the Notes Page view. I've been through all the
settings I can think of, I've searched through a variety of discussion
topics, I've read a number of help articles and I can't find anything to fix
this. I've even tried comparing the masters for presentations that DO display
the slides and for those that don't, and I still can't find anything that's
causing this. I've played with my own display settings, I've tried to find
something that would disable placeholders (couldn't find an option to do
this), I've tried moving the images on the slides to the foreground, and
nothing has helped. Everytime I switch to Notes Page view on certain
presentations, the slides are blanks.
I'm even willing to try solutions I've already mentioned here, just in case
I haven't done something right. Every suggestion will be welcomed.
Thanks!

Lillian

Are you comparing the slide masters or the notes masters? If the notes
masters do show the slide miniature, then try this (very manual) process:
Change to Notes View. On each slide, right click and select Notes Layout.
Check that Slide image is checked. You might also check Reapply Master.
Click Ok and see if your slide miniatures show on the notes pages again.
Warning: You may need to do this for every note page in order to see the
minatures....
