SLIDES PRESENTING IN RANDOM ORDER

Recently I attended a PPt presentation in which the presenter was surprised
by the slides popping up in the wrong order. The first slide shown was 1,
but the next upwas slide 14, etc.

She was using a remote to move the slides forward, if that's relevant.

No one could help her. Does anyone know what was going wrong? PPt 2003
 
I have the same problem: but only in one place.
I work with a the wireless notebook presenter mouse 8000 (I love it).
As soon as i turn it off, the slides donét jerk any longer.
I think it's due to radio interferences

What's really good is when you are in a school setting and people in
classrooms on both sides of you and across the hall are using the same
wireless make of presenter without being able to change the codes. Talk
about fast advance of slides.

Or in ballrooms. (Had that happen just a couple of weeks ago. :-) )

Anyway, for the original poster -- did the presenter inadvertently have
slides 2-13 hidden?
 
I'm not sure if this can be explained by a remote going psycho. A remote
that has gone haywire might advance rapidly but I don't think a remote is
capability, regardless of its mental state, in advancing through a deck in
random order. Echo's suggestion is the first place I'd look if the deck is
moving forward in linear order (i.e. 1, 14, 17, 22, but then not back to 13,
8, 12, 5...)

If the advancement moves forward and backward, the first thing I'd check for
is a custom show that has been created with slides in haphazard order. Not
to be too cynical, but I've seen this done before as a prank...
 
Thanks, all, for the ideas and humor. Since it was not my presentation, I am
not completely clear as to the possibilities for error. I am forwarding this
discussion on to the presenter in hopes she will find the answer to her
embarassing experience.
