Hi, When I start a new presentation I go to Master slide view. I want to use either use the title placeholder or the subtitle placeholder not both. When I delete one or the other from the master view it does show up on the normal view. I make about 100 slides per week with beautiful backgrounds and 2 or 3 lines of text on each. Then I save them on my hardrive which I can use later. Most of the time I like to change the background and when I check the checkbox to delete background from master slides it doesnt work sometimes. Any suggestions on these. Thank

I would just leave the placeholders alone. They don't show up in slide show
view, nor do they print. If you delete them from your master, you can end up
with odd placeholder fills later. Just ignore them in Normal View.

Assuming this is a separate question, I suppose it may depend what's on your
background. It helps also if you can define what exactly "doesn't work"
means. See, "doesn't work sometimes" covers a *lot* of ground...

The checkbox is actually "omit background graphics from master," and it just
suppresses any objects/graphics/pictures/etc., you might have on the master
slide so that they don't show.

And it only suppresses those elements for that particular slide, unless, of
course, you choose "apply to all" instead of just "apply." This setting does
not actually delete your graphics from the master slides, nor does it
suppress things like text placeholders.

That brings up a thought, though. If you're using multiple masters (feature
of PPT 2002 and 2003), you'd then have multiple masters on which to check
"omit background graphics from master."

Hi Alice,

Because placeholders can't currently be customized, the
only way to remove them is to delete them from the slide
itself.

As for the "delete" backgrounds check box, it's an "Omit
Background graphics" check box. So it's only going to
work if your "background" is an image that you've placed
on top of the Master Slide. To change the background,
click on the backgrounds drop box and make the change
there.

Sorry about this. This last question was my old one from long ago. Dont know where my new question went but here it is again. When I insert a word doc. from PP through Insert-Slides from Outline only some of the doc. comes over, or all the doc. comes over with bullets and there is no bullets in the word doc to begin with, or the whole doc. comes over onto one slide which most of the words are hanging down below the slide. This doesnt happen all the time just some word docs. any suggestions. Thanks Alice
