How do I format PowerPoint slides for presentation on HDTV?

To play PowerPoint presentation on TV, you need to use a solution to
save your PowerPoint presentation to DVD.
Then you can directly view your powerpoint presentation on TV.

First you need to figure out the resolution of the TV then make your slides
the appropriate size (*before* you start work on them):

Then figure out what cable you need to connect the laptop to the TV - most
modern TVs I've come across can use standard PC to External Projector Device
cables (I think they are called VGA) but your laptop may be able to use
other cables such as HDMI or Digital VGA (sorry, I may have the terminology
wrong but basically look at the back of the laptop and TV for Video cable
slots). I'm sure someone in your local electronic store could help with
that.
Then hook the laptop up to the TV and figure out what channel the TV needs
to be on to 'see' the laptop (make sure it's on) - generally pressing the AV
button on the TV remote will cycle through the options. If in doubt, look at
the TV manual or menu options. And do this a day or two in advance to iron
out any technical hitches
